BELMONT, NC- On Saturday the Pfeiffer baseball team dropped a double header to No. 13 Belmont Abbey on Saturday. The Falcons were shut out in game one 2-0, and in The Crusaders extended their winning streak to 16 games taking the series finale 13-4.
In the first game the combination of Blake Waldren and Robert Taft only allowed three Pfeiffer hits. The Falcons were unable to manufacture any runs, as Waldren picked up his fourth win of the season.
To start game two Belmont Abbey scored four runs with two outs in the bottom of the first inning. The Crusaders benefitted from two Pfeiffer errors to take a 4-0 lead. In the top of the second inning Xavier Rodriguez hit an RBI single that scored Tanner Mathis from second base. With Pfeiffer trailing 5-1 in the third Zach Scudder hit an RBI single, scoring Cody McKenzie who singled earlier in the frame.
The Crusaders scored one run in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth to remain unbeaten in Conference Carolinas play.
Scudder had two RBI's and Derek Perry added two hits, to go along with one RBI for the Falcons.
Pfeiffer looks to get back on track on Tuesday, March 15, traveling to St. Augustine's for a double header. The time is still to be announced.
