GAFFNEY, SC- In the series finale the Pfeiffer baseball team (13-23, 6-12 CC) picked up their second win in a row over Limestone (14-25, 5-13) on Sunday afternoon 8-2. Jordan Eckard recorded three hits, including a solo home run to right center field. Anthony Allende picked up his first win of the season, going 6.2 innings allowing two earned with four strike outs and only surrendering one walk.
The Falcons struck first in the top of the second inning, Tanner Mathis reached on a throwing error by the shortstop later scoring on a bases loaded walk to Ryne Stanley. Dylan Goodman followed that up with a 2 RBI single to left field, scoring Cody Mckenzie and Eckard. A batter later Stanley scored on a sacrifice fly by Derek Perry to the center fielder.
Pfeiffer added another run in the top of the fourth inning. Eckard opened up the inning with a base hit up the middle, advancing to third on a single by McKenzie. Eckard later scored on a fielding error by the left fielder extending the Falcon lead to 5-0. Eckard opened up the sixth inning hitting his second long ball of the season pushing the Pfeiffer lead to 6-1.
Pfeiffer added to insurance runs in the top of the eighth inning when Perry doubled to right center field scoring Stanley from second. Later in the inning Austin Fox singled home Damon Smith, who walked earlier in the frame.
Hunter Jobe pitched 2.1 scoreless innings striking out four batters and not surrendering a walk. The Falcons were also able to take advantage of four fielding blunders by the Saints to pick up their second consecutive win.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Tuesday as they host a double header against St. Andrews. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
