CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Pfeiffer women's basketball team (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season in a 65-61 defeat at Johnson & Wales (8-3) on Thursday evening. A'Mya McClain was Pfeiffer's leading scorer, dropping 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting.

Dajea Scott added 13 points, five assists and four rebounds and center Grayson Harris tallied seven points and nine boards.

The Wildcats had four players score in double figures, with three players notching 12 points.

The Wildcat defense held Pfeiffer to 21-for-67 shooting (31.3 percent) from the field and 2-of-19 (10.5 percent) from beyond the arc. Additionally, Johnson & Wales forced 25 Pfeiffer turnovers and turned those to 22 points on the other end.

Johnson & Wales held a 42-38 advantage on the boards and 32-22 lead in points in the paint.

Kayla Whitworth made her return to action after missing the first three games due to injury. Abby Waggoner was solid off the bench, contributing eight points and four boards in 13 minutes of action.

Jaquana Pauling (12 pts, 10 reb) and Ineesha Hankerson (12 pts, 12 reb) each notched double-doubles for the Wildcats who are ranked No. 2 nationally in the USCAA poll.

Pfeiffer returns to action with a home game against Columbia (S.C) on Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. That game will be just Pfeiffer's second home game of the season but will begin a four-game homestand for the Falcons.
