Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Quentin M. Reed – Assistant Director of Sports Information

DUE WEST, SC – The Pfeiffer Falcons (6-7 ) dropped both halves of their doubleheader with the Erskine Flying Fleet (11-5) on Saturday by the scores of 6-3 and 3-1.

In the first game, Pfeiffer struck first in the top of the third, as Cody McKenzie singled in Xavier Rodriquez from second to the Falcon early 1-0 lead, but in the bottom half of the inning the Fleet scored four runs off of Falcon starter Jordan Toney. Chase Watts singled through the right side to score Nichols. Davey lined out but was able to sacrifice in William Ruby. Chris Rave  and Kyle Heiss hit consecutive RBI singles.

In the bottom of the fourth, Erskine scored two more runs as Trevor Wood singled up the middle that scored Nichols and advanced Watts to third base. Toney then threw a wild pitch that scored Watts from third.

Pfeiffer in the top of the sixth added a pair of runs after John Elwood reached safely on a throwing error by the shortstop but then came around to score on a Tanner Mathis homerun to right field.

In game two, Drew Wilson pitched six innings of four hit baseball but took the loss as he allowed three runs in the 3-1 loss.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Fleet scored two runs as Taylor Maxey reached on the fielding error. The next two batters for Erskine, Destin Nichols and Ruby, added bunt singles to load the bases. The next batter, Watts walked and scored Maxey. Wood then singled to right field to score Nichols.

After Erskine added one more run in the bottom of the sixth, the Falcons finally got on the board in the top of the ninth as Derek Perry singled in Hayden McGraw.

John Elwood remains intact as he has hit consecutively in all 13 Pfeiffer games.

Pfeiffer returns to play on Tuesday as they travel to non-conference St. Andrews for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
