Pfeiffer Sweeps Saturday's Doubleheader At Barton

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

WILSON, N.C – The Pfeiffer Falcons (16-17, 7-10 CC) were able to pull off a Saturday sweep of the Barton Bulldogs (21-15, 6-11 CC).  Pfeiffer's Jordan Eckard went 6-for-10 with a homer in the two games and knocked in three runs.

In game one, Zach Scudder homered in his first at bat of the game to get Pfeiffer on the scoreboard first.

In the top of the second, the first two batters of the inning, John Elwood and Eckard reached on singles. Elwood would eventually score on wild pitch by Barton starter Dylan Ward as it put Pfeiffer up by 2-0 score.

The Falcons added another run in the top of the third but the Bulldogs took the lead with four runs in the bottom of the fourth when Calvin Hawke doubled to left center off of Falcons starter, Drew Wilson. Gatlin followed with a single to right to score Hawke. Hunter Peirce followed with a single to right center and then Chris Davis connected for a three run homer to clear the bases.

Pfeiffer scrapped together another run in the top of the sixth with a Cody McKenzie RBI single and then in the top of the seventh, Eckard led off with a homer to center field.

The combo of Elwood and Eckard were at it again in the top of the eight with a pair of RBI doubles to give Pfeiffer a 7-4 lead.

Tyler Garrett added another run for Limestone in the bottom of the eighth to close the Limestone deficit at 7-5.  Cameron Reid came into pitch the ninth to pick up his fourth save of the year.

Drew Wilson picked up the victory in game one as he pitched eight innings scattering five hits on five runs.

In game two, it was all Falcons from the start. Jordan Toney picked up his fourth win of the season as threw a complete game, allowing six hits on one run.

The Falcons picked up five runs in the top of the fourth on a Christian Marciano RBI double, two consecutive free passes with the bases loaded and then a Tanner Mathis two RBI single up the middle.

Mathis and Kirby Lambert added RBI doubles along with a RBI single from  McKenzie in the top of the sixth.

Again Eckard added another RBI in seventh as he doubled in Elwood. He then scored later in the inning on an Isaiah Stone sacrifice fly to right for the Falcons 11th run of the game.

Pfeiffer went on to win 11-1. Limestone's only run came in the bottom of the fifth on a Ricks Dearing ground out that scored Troy Maslowski.

Pfeiffer and Barton will play a make-up game that was scheduled from Friday at 1 p.m. Sunday at Nixon Field.
