Baseball Scores Six Runs in Final Two At Bats to Defeat Greensboro 13-8

Box Score

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Pfeiffer baseball team (4-3) got over the .500 mark with a 13-8 victory at Greensboro (2-2) on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons pounded out 16 hits on the day and scored six times over the final two innings to come away with the win.

Derek Perry had four hits and Kirby Lambert added three for Pfeiffer. Catcher Chaston Gordon drove in a career-high four runs, including the game-winner in the eighth inning. Jordan Eckard stayed hot, going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two walks. Cameron Reid earned his first win of the year, tossing two perfect innings of relief with three punchouts.

The Falcons pushed three across in the top of the first, capped by an RBI double by Bryan Kowalski. However, the Pride would answer with three in the bottom of the second to even the score.

In the third, Kowalski and Gordon each had RBI base hits and Kowalski would come home on a wild pitch to give Pfeiffer a 6-3 advantage.

Once again, the Pride responded with a 3-spot to tie the game at six in the bottom of the third.

Single runs in the fourth and fifth innings gave Greensboro an 8-6 advantage but the Falcons wouldn't give in.

Christian Marciano's sacrifice fly scored Xavier Rodriguez in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to one.

In the top of the eighth, Eckard would score on a wild pitch and Gordon's sac fly put Pfeiffer up for good. Ira Dorin tacked on a run-scoring single to give the Falcons a 10-8 lead.

Pfeiffer pushed across three insurance runs in the top of the ninth with Gordon driving in a pair with an RBI single.

The Pfeiffer bullpen didn't allow a single hit over the final four innings as Reid, Nick Richmond and Peyton Williams allowed just one baserunner to reach. Reid struck out three and Richmond added two strikeouts.

Pfeiffer turns their attention towards Elmira on Thursday in their home opener. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Joe Ferebee Field.
