Pfeiffer Celebrates Ferebee's 99th Birthday With 6-3 Win Over Ferrum

Box Score

Misenheimer, N.C. -- On legendary coach Joe Ferebee's 99th birthday, the Pfeiffer baseball team (7-3) scored its 7th win in a row as they defeated the Ferrum Panthers (1-6) 6-3. Pfeiffer was led by a strong performance by starter Matthew Lambert, who went 6.2 innings while giving up 3 runs (2 earned) and striking out 4.

It was a great day at "The Joe" as coach Joe Ferebee made an appearance as the honorary coach for the Falcons while also delivering the lineup card at home plate pregame. Pfeiffer's offense started out hot as they again provided early run support. The Falcons scored two runs in the first inning, led by a Christian Marciano 2-RBI single to left-center field that scored Derek Perry and Xavier Rodriguez.

The Panthers would battle back in the 7th, scoring three runs to tie the game at 3-3. Nathaniel Anthony came through with an RBI groundout to score the first run for Ferrum. A mixup between the Pfeiffer infielders led to the second run coming off of a double steal that scored Christian Campbell. A Garrett Dorson single would then tie the game at 3.

The Falcons would strike right away in the bottom half of the 7th as Kirby Lambert roped one into left-center field for an RBI double. Pfeiffer would add two more runs in the 8th to pull ahead 6-3. Peyton Williams came in from the bullpen to secure his second save in as many games.

The Falcon bullpen was strong on the afternoon, going 2.1 innings while giving up no runs and striking out 2. Cameron Reid tossed a perfect 1.1 innings in relief of Lambert.

Panthers' starter Jacob Holland turned in a solid start, going 6 innings while giving up 4 hits and 3 runs and striking out 3. Ethan Westgate would take the loss for Ferrum, giving up 2 unearned runs in relief.

Pfeiffer hits the field again tomorrow morning as they host Ferrum for the final game of their three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
