Falcons Thump William Peace 14-1 Behind Richmond's Solid Start

Box Score

Misenheimer, N.C. -- The Pfeiffer baseball team scored their 15th win of the year as they defeated William Peace 14-1 on Friday night. It was a complete effort for the Falcons, as a strong performance on the mound from Nick Richmond and an offensive explosion led the way for the victory.

Starting pitcher Nick Richmond set the tone early for Pfeiffer on the bump. Richmond went 7 innings while giving up 7 hits and striking out 8 on the night. Richmond gave up just 1 run in his 7 innings of work.

Meanwhile, the Falcon offense went off, including putting together a 7 run third inning that essentially put the game away early. The scoring started right away, as Chaston Gordon hit a double to left-center field to put Pfeiffer ahead 2-0. In the third, Kirby Lambert blasted a two run homerun to left-center to start the big 7 run inning. The Falcons would then get RBI singles from Bryan Kowalski and Kyler Fairchild to make the score 6-1. After a bases loaded walk by Xavier Rodriguez, Jordan Eckard would tack on an RBI single of his own to cap off the monster inning.

The Pfeiffer offense wouldn't let up, as they would score 1 in the 5th and 4 in the 7th, including an Andrew Chomiczewski 3 run homer to center field. The Falcon bullpen also pitched a solid 2 innings, with Dorion Parker and left hander Alex Morgan each pitching a shutout inning.

The Falcons got a big game out of senior second baseman Derek Perry. Perry collected 3 hits on the game and scored twice. Xavier Rodriguez also had himself a strong performance, going 3-3 with 2 RBI's and a walk. Shortstop Bryan Kowalski also racked up 2 hits on the night with an RBI.

For the Pacers, Easton Payton went 2-4 at the plate, while second baseman Trey Hogan collected 1 RBI.

Pfeiffer will finish off the series with William Peace on Sunday with a double header at Joe Ferebee Field. Game one is scheduled for 2 p.m. and game two will immediately follow.
