Falcon Offense Comes Alive in 22-3 Win at Mary Washington

The Pfeiffer University baseball team pounded out 19 hits on the day to take a convincing 22-3 win over Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. on Tuesday afternoon.

How it Happened
Pfeiffer struck quickly, scoring two runs in the first followed by four in the second to take a 6-0 lead.  The Falcons then bolted ahead 11-0 by plating five runs in the fifth followed by a seven run outburst in the sixth, pushing the lead to 18-1.  Another run in the seventh and three in the ninth provided the 22-3 final.


Inside the Box Score
Pfeiffer combined for 19 hits, on the afternoon, with Ira Dorin going 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBI.  Bryce Marsh had two doubles, finishing with three RBI.  Catcher Chaston Gordon collected four RBI after a 2-of-4 outing.  Mason Striplin, Noah Martindale, Zach Ferrell and Bryan Kowalski each drove in two runs apiece while Hayden McGraw, Gauge Gantt had an RBI each.

Five Falcon pitchers threw in the game, with Nathan Ray getting credit for the win.  Ray pitched three innings, scattered three hits and allowed a run while striking out two batters.  Teammate Paul Gervase also managed three innings, striking out one batter while allowing just one hit.  Brodrick Rierson, Josh Topper and Slayton Fletcher each pitched an inning, with Rierson giving up one hit while striking out one. Topper allowed no hits while Fletcher also allowed one hit is his inning of work.
