Box Score Pfeiffer Men's Basketball Comes Up Short at Averett
Danville, Va. (Jan. 25, 2020) – Averett University used a hot start to down the Pfeiffer University men's basketball team by a 83-65 score on Saturday afternoon at the Grant Center in Danville, Va.
Averett (12-6, 8-2 USA South) took control of the game early as freshman Corey Baldwin accounted for eight of the Cougars' first 10 points as Averett opened with an 18-4 advantage midway through the period. Pfeiffer (9-8, 4-5 USA South), which trailed by double digits the rest of the half, got within 44-32 by halftime.
In the second half, Averett pushed their lead to as many as 26 points, as they finished the game shooting 49.3% from the floor while outrebounding the Falcons 52-36. Pfeiffer shot just 27.4% (17-of-62) from the floor.
Juwan Blanton (Forest City, N.C.) led the way for Pfeiffer, scoring 15 points while hitting three from distance. Junior Jamaal David (Clinton, Md.) had 11 points as the only other Falcon play in double-figures.
