Pfeiffer Men's Basketball Falls to William Peace in Season Finale

Misenheimer, N.C.  (Feb. 20, 2020) –  Visiting William Peace University had a huge second half on their way to downing the Pfeiffer University men's basketball team 111-95 in the Falcons' season finale at Merner Gym on Wednesday evening.

After leading 56-54 at halftime, the visiting Pacers outscored the Falcons 55-41 in the second half.  The two teams battled closely throughout much of the early stages of the half, but Pfeiffer would take a 79-75 lead at 10:32 after a dunk from Jerome Savoy (Waldorf, Md.).  William Peace would then embark on an 8-0 run to take the 83-79 lead on a pair of free throws from Trey Bryant.

The Falcons would close to 83-31 on a Sean Scott (Waldorf, Md.) layup, but WPU again stretched their lead to 88-81 on a three pointer from Camden Ferguson.

The Pacer lead grew to 98-88 at the 3:44 mark.  Pfeiffer would not get closer than 10 points the rest of the way, with WPU taking the 111-95 USA South win.

Pfeiffer had five players record double-figures in the game, led by Juwan Blanton (Forest City, N.C.), as he hit five three pointers and finished with a career-best 16 points.  Scott had 13 points and had a team-high six rebounds, while Tyjarek Simmons (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.) and
Craig Sabb (Goose Creek, S.C.) each has 12 points.  Savoy had 11 to cap the Pfeiffer scoring.

As a team, Pfeiffer hit 14 from long range, but William Peace also had a great night from distance, as they hit 11.

WPU got 33 points and 16 rebounds from Trey Bryant while Camden Ferguson and John Burwell had 23 and 21 points, respectively.  Tyson Sellers finished with 12 points and Mikal Gaylord had 11 points for the Pacers.

Pfeiffer completes their season with an 11-14 overall mark and a 6-11 tally in league play while William Peace improves to 13-11 overall and 11-5.
