How it Happened
The Falcons jumped on the Bulldogs early by scoring a pair of runs in the first. Following a leadoff single from Zach Ferrell, the Bulldog pitcher issued two straight walks to load the bases. Sophomore Bryce Marsh was then hit by a pitch which allowed Ferrell to score. Kyler Fairchild then grounded out, allowing Grice to score.
Pfeiffer added two more in the third thanks to the first home run of the season from Marsh. His line drive shot to right field allowed Brown to score. Brown reached on a double prior to Marsh's blast.
Adrian manufactured a run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth to close to 4-1, but Pfeiffer loaded the bases once again in the fifth. A passed ball allowed Hayden McGraw to scamper home, putting Pfeiffer up 5-1.
Adrian would then get an RBI single in the seventh, making it 5-2. Adrian kept the pressure on as they loaded the bases, but a lineout to third baseman Blake Winebarger ended the threat.
Pfeiffer pitcher John Owen got the win, as he scattered three hits while striking out three in three innings of work. Michael Glenn then came on in the eighth to earn the save. Glenn struck out one in two innings of work.
The win improves Pfeiffer to 4-0 on the season, the best four-game start since 2014. Adrian falls to 0-3 and is their first 0-3 start since 2003.
