Box Score Bentley and McClain's Career Day Leads Pfeiffer Women to 79-77 Win Over Methodist
Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 8, 2020) – The Pfeiffer University women's basketball team benefited from career-day's from junior's Brina Bentley and A'Mya McClain, winning 79-77 over visiting Methodist University on Saturday afternoon at Merner Gym.
Bentley, from Chester, Va., scored a career-best 32 points on an 11-of-19 shooting effort that included three from beyond the arc. Bentley also his seven free throws and had a 12 rebounds, a pair of blocks and five steals in the win.
A'Mya McClain (Hickory, N.C.) also had a great afternoon in scoring a career-best 26 points. She went 8-of-12 from the field and hit five from long-range in the win. All-told, Pfeiffer hit 10 three-pointers on the afternoon and shot 45.0% from the field (27-of-60).
Regan Allen (Olin, N.C.) hit a pair of three-pointers and scored 10 points in the win.
Visiting Methodist was led by Kadie Snipes' 19 points.
The Falcons held a 75-68 lead with 32 seconds to play, but Methodist came back to close to within 79-75 on a three-pointer with four seconds left. Pfeiffer would turn the ball over with two seconds to go and a layup at the buzzer provided the 79-77 Pfeiffer win.
The victory improves Pfeiffer to 9-13 overall and 6-8 in USA South play while Methodist drops to 3-20 and 2-12 in conference play.
Pfeiffer will host Mary Baldwin University on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at Merner Gym.
