Box Score Pfeiffer Women's Basketball Hits 11 Three-Pointers in 75-51 Home Win Over Mary Baldwin
Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 9, 2020) – The Pfeiffer University women's basketball team hit a season-high 11 three pointers en route to a convincing 75-51 home win over Mary Baldwin University on Sunday afternoon at Merner Gym on Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day in honor of Greensboro College Head Coach Randy Tuggle.
Pfeiffer never trailed in the game and took a 21-14 lead after the first quarter. The Falcons also rode a dominating 19-8 spurt in the second quarter to lead 40-22 at halftime.
The Falcons enjoyed a lead as large as 27 points on the afternoon propelled by a stellar 47.3% (28-of-65) effort from the field.
Pfeiffer got a game-high 23 points from junior Brina Bentley (Chester, Va.). Bentley also controlled seven rebounds, had a pair of assists and one steal on the afternoon.
Senior Kortni Pinion (Stanfield, N.C.) had 14 points, six rebounds and four assists while Regan Allen (Olin, N.C.) had 11 points and nine rebounds. Bentley, Pinion and Allen each hit three from long range in the win.
MBU was led by Codie Heilig's 16 points. Teammate Demet Saygili had 11 points in the loss.
The win improves Pfeiffer to 9-13 overall and 6-8 in league play while MBU falls to 12-10 and 7-7 in USA South play.
Pfeiffer will host their final home game of the season in Merner Gym on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7:00 p.m. against Meredith College.
