Pfeiffer Women Suffers 74-61 Road Setback at Brevard
Brevard, N.C. (Dec. 2, 2021) – Visiting Pfeiffer University dropped their third straight game in a 74-61 decision to Brevard in a nonconference women's basketball game on Thursday night at Boshamer Gym in Brevard, N.C.
The Tornados started the game on a 12-4 run and never trailed in the game.
After taking the 20-13 lead after the first quarter, Pfeiffer closed the gap to 31-28 after an
Alexus Boyd (Raleigh, N.C.) three-pointers 46 seconds before the halftime buzzer. Brevard would add a free throw to provide the 32-28 halftime margin.
Early in the third quarter, the Falcons would trim the deficit to one point on three separate occasions, but Brevard went on a 9-0 spurt to extend the lead to 49-39.
Pfeiffer would get no closer the rest of the way, with Brevard building a lead as large as 26 points (69-43), eventually taking the 74-61 win.
Pfeiffer got 10 points each from
Alexis Bynum (Charlotte, N.C.) and
Jahlea Peters (Hickory, N.C.) while Brevard was led by Destiny Wiliams' 17 points.
The loss drops Pfeiffer to 3-4 on the season while Brevard improves to 5-2 overall.
The Falcons will take a break for fall exams before traveling to Meredith College for a USA South game on Dec. 15.
