Box Score Pfeiffer Men's Basketball Takes 75-66 Road Win Over Averett
Danville, Va. (Feb. 24, 2021) – The Pfeiffer University men's basketball team used a decisive run in the second half to take a 75-66 win over Averett University at the Grant Center on Wednesday afternoon.
After the two teams battled through a tough first half, Pfeiffer put together an 8-0 run in the second half to jump ahead of the Cougars 49-42 at the 13:42 mark. Averett would close to within one point at 51-50 following a Bryson McLaughlin layup with 9:51 left.
A three-pointer from Donnie Haith (Aberdeen, N.C.) at 4:36 staked the Falcons to a 65-58 lead and a pair of Craig Sabb (Goose Creek, S.C.) free throws at 2:30 extended the lead to 71-62.
Averett would get no closer than five points the rest of the way, with Pfeiffer earning the 75-66 win,
Diez Mungro (Latta, S.C.) led the Falcons with 15 points while freshman Dorian Miles (Greenville, S.C.) secured yet another double-double with a 14-point, 11 rebound outing. Haith was the third Falcon player to achieve double-figures with 13 points.
The win improves Pfeiffer to 6-2 overall and 6-2 in USA South play while Averett dips to 5-5 overall and 5-4 in conference play.
The Falcons are next scheduled to play in their final road game of the regular season on Friday, Feb. 26 in a 4:30 p.m. tipoff at Methodist.
