Box Score 2 SERIES RECAP: Pfeiffer Baseball Wins USA South Series Over William Peace
Misenheimer, N.C. (March 22, 2021) – The Pfeiffer University baseball team captured a 2-1 series win over William Peace this past weekend at Joe Ferebee Field.

How it Happened
Game 1 – Pfeiffer's Austin Morton lifted a two-run walk-off home run to left field in the bottom of the ninth to cap a 9-run comeback to claim the USA South opener. Pfeiffer, which found themselves down 8-0 in the seventh, scored one on a WPU throwing error in the home half of the seventh.
In the eighth, Jake Brown, Bryce Marsh and Blake Winebarger all delivered RBI to pull to 8-4.
In the ninth, Brady Parker would score on a wild pitch, followed by a Jake Brown two-run home run to close to 8-7.
Morton then used his heroics to give the Falcons to walk-off win.
Matt Moser took the pitching win for Pfeiffer, throwing two innings while giving up just one hit while striking out a pair of Peace batters.
Game 2 – WPU scored in each of the first three innings to take a 6-2 lead. They added another in the sixth to go up 7-2, but Pfeiffer responded with three in the seventh to close to 7-5. WPU then got three more in the eighth and one in the ninth to take the eventual 11-5 win.
Game 3 – In a marathon game that lasted nearly five hours, the teams combined for 41 runs and 36 hits, which using a combined 11 pitchers.
Down 20-18 going into the bottom of the eighth, Pfeiffer played three runs, the first of which came off an Austin Morton solo home run. Nate Callahan would then hit an RBI single. Callahan would later score on a wild pitch to put Pfeiffer up 21-20.
WPU would seemingly score the tying run in the ninth, but due to local lighting and curfew rules, the game was halted at midnight, thus referring back to the completed eight inning, giving Pfeiffer the 21-20 win.
