Box Score Pfeiffer Baseball Wins Big at Brevard
Brevard, N.C. (March 31, 2021) – The Pfeiffer University baseball team battered Brevard pitching en route to an eight-inning 17-3 road win on Tuesday afternoon at Gil Coan Field in Brevard, N.C.

How it Happened
After spotting Brevard a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Pfeiffer pushed five runs across in the fourth and had an offensive explosion in the eighth, taking a 17-3 win in eight innings on Tuesday afternoon at Brevard, N.C.
Pfeiffer opened the scoring in the fourth when Jake Brown (Winston-Salem, N.C.) delivered an RBI double to tie the game at 1-1. An Austin Morton (Jacksonville, Fla.) single would put Pfeiffer ahead 2-1 and a bases loaded walk by Corey Lackey (Wilkesboro, N.C.) pushed the lead to 3-1. Seth Grice (Stanfield, N.C.) would also draw a walk followed by a Kyler Fairchild sacrifice fly, putting Pfeiffer ahead 5-1.
Brevard closed the gap to 5-2 in the bottom of the fourth, but Pfeiffer plated three more in the fifth to go up 9-2. The Falcons were aided by a Brevard error followed by a Grice single. Another Tornado error allowed the final run of the inning to score.
Heading into the eighth leading 9-3, Pfeiffer pushed eight runs across to lead 17-3. Pfeiffer was the benefactor on RBI scoring singles by Morton and Lackey following by another pair of bases loaded walks from Fairchild and Zach Ferrell.
Blake Winebarger (Yadkinville, N.C.) collected an RBI single to make it 15-3 while Carter Merrill (Dallas, N.C.) laced a two-run double to cap the scoring at 17-3.
In total, eight Falcons had RBI with Morton leading the way with three. Merrill, Lackey, Grice and Fairchild all posted two RBI on the day.
Chase Senecal (Jupiter, Fla.) earned the win on the mound for Pfeiffer, improving his record to 1-1 on the season. Senecal tossed five innings allowed two runs while striking out a pair of Tornado batters.
Brevard's pitching struggled in using eight pitchers in the eight-inning game, with Cameron Cook taking the loss for the Tornados after throwing 3.1 innings while allowing five runs.
