Falcon Baseball Takes Doubleheader From Mary Baldwin

Misenheimer, N.C. (April 25, 2021) – The Pfeiffer Falcons baseball team took a doubleheader sweep of visiting Mary Baldwin University in USA South play on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field.

The Basics

Game 1 – Pfeiffer def. Mary Baldwin, 19-5 (7 innings)
Game 2 – Pfeiffer def. Mary Baldwin, 10-5

Game 1
Pfeiffer scored in every inning but the second, and scored 10 in the seventh inning to take a 19-5 win in seven innings.

Pfeiffer got home runs from Austin Morton, Kyler Fairchild, Zach Ferrell and Seth Grice in the win.  Morton finished with three RBI, as did teammate Seth Grice.  Bryce Marsh also had a tremendous game, going 3-of-4 with five RBI in the win.

All told, every Falcon batter scored at least one run in the game.

Falcon pitcher John Owen tossed a complete game, striking out six batters while improving to 2-0 on the season.

Game 2

Kyler Fairchild hit a grand slam in the fourth inning, capping a six-run outburst in the frame for the Falcons, giving Pfeiffer the 8-4 lead.  The Falcons added single runs in the fifth and the seventh inning to push the margin to 10-4.  MBU did score once in the eighth to provide the eventual 10-5 margin.

Nate Ray earned the pitching win in relief, throwing four innings while striking out four batters while allowing no hits and improving his season record to 3-1.
