Pfeiffer Women's Basketball Drops USA South Opener at Meredith
Raleigh, N.C. (Nov. 18, 2022) – The Pfeiffer University women's basketball team opened USA South play with a 70-57 setback at Meredith College on Friday night.
Despite leading 15-9 after the end of the first quarter, Meredith stormed back to take the 28-26 lead and used a huge third quarter to race to the 54-36 lead and would never trail in taking the 70-57 final.
Pfeiffer had three players achieve double-digits, with sophomore
Tanaesha Ellison (Asheboro, N.C.) leading the way with 18 points. Ellison hit a pair of three pointers, had 11 steals and three assists in the loss. Freshman
Miya Horton (Lenoir, N.C.) finished with 14 points after a 4-of-8 outing and going 5-of-7 at the free throw line.Â
Jahlea Peters (Hickory, N.C.) had 12 points as the other Falcon in double figures.
Meredith had a huge game from Kate Perko, as she finished with 19 points and 19 rebounds in the win. Her teammate De'ja Morgan led all scorers with 20 points.
The loss drops Pfeiffer to 1-3 on the season and 0-1 in USA South play while Meredith evened their record to 1-1 and also stands at 1-1 in league play.
Pfeiffer will next hit the floor with a road game on Nov. 22 at ODAC foe Bridgewater. Tipoff is slated for 5:00 p.m.
