Pfeiffer Men fall to North Carolina Wesleyan 91-77
Rocky Mount, N.C. (February 5, 2022) – The Pfeiffer Men's Basketball team fell to host North Carolina Wesleyan 91-77 on Saturday afternoon.
For Pfeiffer (7-8, 4-3 USA South), five players reached double figures in the game.
Jerome Savoy led the way once again scoring 18 points. Savory also dished 4 assists and forced 3 steals.
Craig Sabb added 14 points and 4 assists.
Taylan Rowe,
Sean Scott, and
Dorian Miles were the other Falcons to reach the double figure mark. Rowe and Scott each added 11 points, while Miles scored 10.
North Carolina Wesleyan (15-6, 7-3 USA South) weas led by conference scoring leader Damon McDowell who scored 31 points on the night. Isaiah Lewis scored 16 points and Austin Manley came off the bench to add 14 points.
The Bishops shot out to a 31-13 lead in the first 11 minutes of the half. Pfeiffer would respond with a 12-4 run to cut the lead back to 10 points. The teams would trade buckets over the next four minutes leading to an eventual 13-point lead for North Carolina Wesleyan at the half. Sabb would have a solid first half shooting 5-6 from the field, scoring 12 points.
North Carolina Wesleyan would open the second half on 13-6 run to push the lead to 20. Pfeiffer again would battle back. A jump shot from
Dorian Miles would cap a ten-minute stretch that saw the Falcons close the lead down to 6 points.
McDowell would hit a three on the next possession and then knock down three free throws after being fouled to push the lead to 12 and steal the momentum back for the Bishops. Pfeiffer would not be able to mount a final come back.
The Pfeiffer men will return to action Monday night in Merner Gymnasium as they take on Methodist University in a game that was rescheduled from January 19
th. The game will tip at 7:00 p.m.
