Box Score Pfeiffer Baseball Takes Two From Greensboro
Misenheimer, N.C. (March 19, 2022) – The Pfeiffer University baseball team won both ends of a USA South doubleheader over rival Greensboro College on Saturday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field.

Game 1
With the game tied at 6-6, Pfeiffer scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and survived a ninth-inning comeback bid from The Pride to win 10-8.
Bryce Marsh (Asheboro, N.C.) put Pfeiffer ahead with an RBI double in the eighth.Â
Zach Ferrell followed with an RBI single of his own to make it 8-6. An error by the Greensboro shortstop allowed the Falcons to go up 9-6.Â
Cory Lackey (Wilkesboro, N.C.) would hit a sacrifice fly to center field to put the Falcons up 10-6.
Greensboro would get a two-RBI double from Cam Watts in the ninth inning, but
Josh Topper (Charlotte, N.C.) would close the game for Pfeiffer in improving his record 2-0 on the mound.
Game 2
Game two saw Pfeiffer plate nine runs in the first inning, with senior
Austin Morton (Jacksonville, Fla.) providing three RBI in the inning. Morton would then hit a two-run home run, his first of the season, in the third inning to give Pfeiffer the 11-1 lead. A three-run blast over the right field fence in the fifth from Marsh would put the Falcon lead to 14-2. A pair of Pride runs would cross in the sixth, making it 14-4, but a sacrifice fly from senior
Blake Winebarger (Yadkinville, N.C.) in the sixth make it 15-4.
Lackey would then end the game in walkoff fashion via the USA South run-rule, when he singled to right field, scoring
Alec Bell (Kings Mountain, N.C.) to provide the 16-4 final in eight innings.
Falcon pitcher
John Owen (Richfield, N.C.) earned the win by throwing five innings, allowing just two runs on five hits. Â Relief pitcher
Dakota Caughey (Gastonia, N.C.) pitched well in his two innings of work by striking out three Pride batters.
