Pfeiffer Baseball Takes Sunday Game From Berry
Rome, Ga. (Feb. 20, 2023) – The Pfeiffer University baseball team opened their 2023 season at Berry College, dropping the first two games on Saturday and winning the third game of the series on Sunday afternoon.

Game 1 (Saturday)
The Vikings put up at least one run each inning of the game as they put the Falcons away after seven innings.
The sixth inning was a big inning as the Vikings put up 12 runs, seven hits, and seven walks.Â

Pfeiffer's
Jackson Leck (High Point, N.C.) went 2-of-4 and had four RBI in the game while teammate
Jake Brown (Winston-Salem, N.C.) also went 2-of-4 on the afternoon with a double.Â
Zach Ferrell (Apex, N.C.) was 3-of-4 at the plate with a two-run home run. Senior
Brady Parker (Oakboro, N.C.) scored twice and was 2-of-3 from the plate with one RBI.
Game 2 (Saturday)
Brady Parker drove in Pfeiffer's lone run of the game in the third inning on an RBI single through the right side to tie the game at 1-1.
Berry scored the go-ahead runs on a two-RBI triple in the sixth inning that would provide the eventual 3-1 final.
Game 3 (Sunday)
Pfeiffer jumped on top in the first inning thanks to an RBI triple from Jack Brown. Brown would then score on a passed ball later in the inning to put Pfeiffer up 2-0.
A
Carter Merrill (Dallas, N.C.) RBI single in the fourth inning put the Falcons up 3-1, but the lead was short-lived, as Berry hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to take the 4-3 lead.
Pfeiffer regained the 5-4 lead in the fifth inning after a
Zach Ferrell RBI single and a
Jake Brown sacrifice fly.
The Falcons then blew up in the seventh inning, plating eight runs with
Alec Bell contributing a two-RBI single.Â
Christian Ezzell (Monroe, N.C.), Parker, Ferrell and Brown all collected RBIs in the inning, which saw the Falcons take the 13-4 lead.
Berry scored a pair in the bottom of the seventh inning to cut the Pfeiffer lead to 13-6. The Falcons then retired the Vikings in order in the eighth and allowed a two-out single in the ninth before retiring the final batter to claim the win.
Jacob Landis (Gastonia, N.C.) earned the win on the mound, pitching four innings allowing just two runs on three hits while striking out three Viking batters.
