Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 7, 2023) - William Peace University made a comeback after being down 25-5 in the first half and pulled out a close 79-77 men's basketball win over Pfeiffer University on Tuesday night in Merner Gym.
After being down 25-5, William Peace went on a 25-11 run to pull to 36-30 just before halftime.
In the second half, the teams exchanged leads on three occasions.
The Falcons'
Taylan Rowe (Oakboro, N.C.) scored 13 points while
M.J. Armstrong (Gastonia, N.C.) led the team with 21 points.
Sophomore
Daymon Beckwith (Jacksonville, N.C.) also had a good night, finishing with 17 points.
WPU's Michael Dulin led the Pacers with 22 points while Timothy Pettiford had 21.
The loss drops Pfeiffer to 8-13 overall and 4-6 in USA South play while WPU improves to 14-8 and 8-3 in conference games.
The Falcons will hit the road for their next two USA South games, travelling to Southern Virginia on Feb. 10 and visiting Mary Baldwin on Feb. 11.
