MIsenheimer, N.C. (Jan. 2, 2024) - The Pfeiffer University  men's basketball team out-rebounded the JWU Charlotte Wildcats 40-36 on the way to a 71-67 victory at home Tuesday.

The Falcons (3-4) had four players score in double figures, led by Clayton Robinson, who had 17 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Fellow junior Daniel Fulp added 13 points, seven rebounds and two steals while Alex Cunningham chipped in 11 points to go along with a pair of steals.

Jaylen Hamilton pulled down three offensive rebounds to lead the Pfeiffer offense which grabbed 14 boards and turned them into 17 second chance points.

The Pfeiffer defense was effective at taking away the basketball in Tuesday's game, forcing 19 Wildcat turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 15 points fpr the Falcons on the offensive end of the floor.

How It Happened

After falling behind 13-10 in the early goings, Pfeiffer put together an 8-0 run with 12:51 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Ty Black, to take an 18-13 lead. The Falcons then added eight points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 44-31 advantage. Pfeiffer did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 22 of its 44 points close to the basket.

Pfeiffer kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Daymon Beckwith's jumper, to grow the lead to 55-37 with 15:44 to go in the contest. The Wildcats narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Falcons still held on for the 71-67 win. Pfeiffer took care of business in the paint, recording 14 of its 27 points in the lane.
