MISENHEIMER, N.C. (Jan. 27, 2024) --The Pfeiffer men's basketball team shot 57.1 percent from beyond the arc on the way to a 96-78 USA South home win against the William Peace Pacers at Merner Gym on Saturday afternoon..
The Falcons (7-7, 4-3) had five players score in double figures, led by Donte Forrester-Jhagroo, who had 15 points. Daniel Fulp tacked on 14 points and Ty Black helped out with 14 points.
Pfeiffer collected 42 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to William Peace's 36, led by Doug Smith's 15 boards.
The Pfeiffer defense held William Peace shooters to just 37.9 percent from the field, including 24.2 percent from three-point range.
How It Happened
After jumping out to a 10-8 advantage, Pfeiffer went on an 11-0 run with 14:07 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Rashamel Butler, to increase its lead to 21-8. The Falcons then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 40-36 advantage. Pfeiffer did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 22 of its 40 points close to the basket.
Following intermission, Pfeiffer kept widening that lead, expanding it to 57-48 before going on a 9-0 run, finished off by Sean Sucarichi's jumper, to grow the lead to 66-48 with 10:06 to go in the contest. The Falcons held onto that lead for the rest of the game for the 96-78 win. Pfeiffer took care of business in the paint, recording 32 of its 56 points in the lane.
