Pfeiffer Women Comes Up Short at Brevard

BREVARD, N.C. (Jan. 30, 2024) --The Pfeiffer University women's basketball team got a 26-point showing from the bench, but fell 64-54 to the Brevard Tornados on the road Tuesday at Boshamer Gym on the Brevard campus.

The Falcons (4-14, 3-10) had a pair of players score in double figures, led by junior Alexis Bynum, who had 14 points and three steals. Sophomore Hannah Isley tacked on 13 points and four assists and freshman Lola Cabiness-Ali added six points, a team-best 12 rebounds and two steals.

Pfeiffer out-rebounded Brevard 30-22 in Tuesday's game..

Pfeifferwould force 15 Brevard turnovers. turning takeaways turned into 18 points . Bynum's three steals led the way individually for the Falcons.

How It Happened

Pfeiffer struggled out of the gate, falling behind 17-11 at the end of the first quarter.

Brevard kept adding to that lead, building a 24-15 advantage before Pfeiffer went on a 5-0 run, highlighted by a three from Bynum, to narrow its deficit to 24-20. Brevard responded and expanded its lead, leaving the Falcons trailing 41-30 heading into halftime.

Brevard continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 54-35 advantage before Pfeiffer went on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a three from Kenadie Hudler, to trim its deficit to 54-40 with 1:36 to go in the third. Brevard countered and stretched its lead to 58-42 heading into the fourth. Pfeiffer knocked down two three-pointers in the quarter to score six of its 12 total points.

Pfeiffer came out of the third quarter break clicking on all cylinders, going on a 6-0 run to shrink the deficit to 58-48 with 6:34 to go in the contest. The Falcons were unable to cut further into the deficit by the end of the game, losing 64-54. Pfeiffer took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring eight of its 12 points in the paint.
