Pfeiffer def. William Peace, 6-5
CARY, N.C. (April 27, 2024) --The Pfeiffer Falcons fought back from down 5-4 in the seventh inning to defeat the William Peace Pacers 6-5 Saturday at the USA Baseball National Training Center in Cary, N.C.
Thad Lewis (3-5) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Pfeiffer (18-18, 9-10). The right-hander went two shutout innings without giving up a hit, allowing one walk and striking out three.
In the batter's box, the Falcons were led by Robbie Brown, who went 3-for-4 on the day with two triples and two RBI. Wilson Lohrer furnished a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Zach Ferrell also helped out for Pfeiffer, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. An RBI triple from Brown highlighted a two-run inning for Pfeiffer.
The Pacers then tied the ballgame at two before the Falcons came back to reclaim their advantage in the fourth inning. Pfeiffer picked up two runs in the frame, the big hit being an RBI double from Lohrer, which brought the Falcons lead to 4-2.
Pfeiffer's lead had evaporated by the time the eighth inning came around and turned into a 5-4 William Peace advantage, when the Falcons re-gained control at 6-5. The score remained 6-5 for the rest of the game, as Pfeiffer held on for the win.

In game two, the Falcons got three hits out of Lohrer in a 6-5 victory against the William Peace Pacers in Saturday's game two.
Thad Lewis (4-5) started on the mound and picked up the win for Pfeiffer (19-18, 10-10). The right-hander went 5.1 innings, giving up one run on six hits, allowing two walks and striking out seven.
In addition to his three hits, Lohrer had a double and two RBI to lead the Falcons. Zach Ferrell put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-5 with a walk and an RBI. Sophomore Austin Wood also helped out for Pfeiffer, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED

The Pacers then gained ground, narrowing the lead to 3-1 until the Falcons expanded their advantage in the sixth. Pfeiffer pushed across a run on Lohrer's two-out RBI double, which brought the Falcons lead to 4-1.
Pfeiffer kept William Peace without a run before building their lead to 5-1 in the eighth inning.
The Pacers gained ground, closing the gap to 5-2 until Pfeiffer added some insurance in the ninth. The Falcons scored once on an RBI single off the bat of C. Lackey, bringing the Pfeiffer advantage to 6-2. William Peace put three runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Falcons still held on for the 6-5 win.
