Men's Cross Country Wins Pfeiffer Invitational
Misenheimer, N.C. (Sept. 14, 2024) – The Pfeiffer University men's cross country team placed seven runners in the top-15 to edge Division II Fayetteville State at the Pfeiffer University Invitational on Saturday morning on the Misenheimer campus.
The Falcons, who defended their team title from 2023, was paced by junior
Sawyer Helms, who finished the 8000 meter course with a 26:14.7 to claim third place. Teammate
Cannon Powell posted a 26:51.4 to finish in fifth place. Senior
Cole Huggins and
Camden Misenheimer placed in seventh and eighth place, respectively while freshman
Bricen Burleson,
Alim Coleman and
Ezequiel Cannas claimed 13
th, 14
th and 15
th place.
Individually, Fayetteville State's Hillary Toroitich won the event over teammate Derek Kipchumba, besting the field of 92 runners by running a 25:50.6
The Falcons will turn their focus to competing in the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. on Oct. 5
