JWU Edges Pfeiffer Women in Overtime

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Nov. 12, 2025) — Johnson & Wales-Charlotte edged Pfeiffer University 73-69 in overtime in a women's basketball matchup on Wednesday night at the JWU Wildcat Center.

Pfeiffer (1-1) led by as many as seven points in the fourth quarter, but Johnson & Wales (2-0) rallied late to force overtime and outscored the Falcons 13-9 in the extra period.

Miya Horton paced Pfeiffer with 24 points, six steals and four assists, while Ava Hairston added 10 points and four rebounds. Peyton McPeters chipped in 10 points and six boards, and
Lettie Michael hit two clutch 3-pointers, finishing with nine points.

The Falcons shot 34.2% from the field and 37.5% from 3-point range but struggled at the free-throw line, going 11 of 24. Pfeiffer dominated the glass with 49 rebounds, including 19 offensive boards, and forced 27 turnovers.

Johnson & Wales was led by Maliah Preston's 16 points and nine rebounds. Laylah Toscano and Gabby Tapley each scored 14 for the Wildcats, who hit 16 of 20 free throws to seal the win.

Pfeiffer will return to play on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2:00 p.m. with a home game against Regent University.
