Pfeiffer Softball Wins Two on Day Two of NFCA Leadoff Classic

Charly Cooper delivers walk-off HR vs. Belhaven

COLUMBUS, Ga. (March 1, 2025) --The Pfeiffer Falcons rallied to score three in the seventh inning and walked it off on Charly Cooper's first career home run to pick up the 6-5 win over the fifth-ranked Belhaven Blazers on Saturday morning.

Emma Bullin (1-2) got the pitching win for Pfeiffer (3-2). The right-hander tossed a complete game, giving up five runs, four earned, on 10 hits, allowing one walk while striking out six.

At the plate, the Falcons were paced by Gracie Griffin, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a two-run home run. Emily Dickerson also hit a home run on the day, going 1-of-3 at the plate.Kenzi Lyall also chipped in for the Falcons, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a home run, a walk and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 5-0, the Falcons first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Pfeiffer plated two runs when Dickerson left the yard with Lyall aboard.

The Falcons kept the Blazers off the board before narrowing the gap further in the sixth. Pfeiffer picked up a run on Lyall's two-out solo shot off of Funderbur, which brought the score to 5-3 in favor of the Blazers.

Pfeiffer kept its deficit in check, holding Belhaven scoreless before scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh to claim victory, walking it off on Cooper's blast

GAME NOTES

» Bullin struck out six Blazers hitters.
» Pfeiffer's highest scoring inning was the seventh, when it pushed three runs across.
» Pfeiffer hitters hit four dingers in the ballgame.
» Pfeiffer pitchers limited Belhaven to just 2-for-13 (.154) with runners in scoring position.
» Pfeiffer pitchers faced 34 Belhaven hitters in the game, allowing four ground balls and 11 fly balls while striking out six.
» Griffin led the Falcons at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
» Belhaven was led offensively by R. Bryan, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
» Funderbur led the Blazers pitching staff, throwing six innings of six-run ball.


In game two of the day, Pfeiffer overwhelmed Wartburg College in five innings, winning 11-3.

Freshman Peyton Lane earned the pitching win by tossing four innings, giving up three runs while striking out two batters.

Offensively, Emma Bullin went 3-of-3 with three RBI and scored twice.  Emma Chopko also had a great game, going 2-of-3 with a double and three RBI.  Fellow senior Alyssa Broaddus also had two RBI on the afternoon.

Pfeiffer will wrap up play in the NFCA Leadoff Classic on Sunday, March 2 with a pair of games.  The Falcons will take on LeTourneau at 1:30 p.m. and Saint Benedict at 3:30 p.m.
