GAME 1 | North Carolina Wesleyan 5, Pfeiffer 3
MISENHEIMER, N.C. --The Pfeiffer Falcons took a 2-1 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hang on and fell 5-3 to the North Carolina Wesleyan Battling Bishops Saturday in game one of a USA South doubleheader.
Senior Thad Lewis (1-2) started and took the loss on the mound for Pfeiffer (5-11, 1-1).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Junior Austin Wood came across to score the lone run of the inning for Pfeiffer and get them on the board.
The Battling Bishops then tied the ballgame at one before the Falcons came back to reclaim their advantage in the fourth inning. Senior Wilson Lohrer came across to score the lone run of the inning for Pfeiffer, which brought the Falcons lead to 2-1.
Pfeiffer's lead had disappeared by the time the ninth inning arrived and turned into a 5-2 North Carolina Wesleyan advantage, when the Falcons cut that deficit to 5-3. The Falcons scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Lohrer. The Falcons were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

In game two, Pfeiffer fell 10-7 in a 10-inning matchup to N.C. Wesleyan.
Freshman Levi Barrett (0-2) took the loss for Pfeiffer (5-12, 1-2) while freshman Trent Lowe was a bright spot for the Falcons, starting the ballgame, tossing three innings, giving up three runs, zero earned, on four hits, with three walks and one strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons were trailing 3-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Pfeiffer got an RBI single from senior Thomas Ashby, scoring sophomore Hunter Huneycutt from third base.
The Falcons kept the Battling Bishops off the board before tying it up in the third. Huneycutt's run-scoring single highlighted an inning where Pfeiffer scored twice, which evened the score at 3-3.
North Carolina Wesleyan broke that tie and grabbed a 5-3 lead moving into the fourth, when Pfeiffer grabbed the advantage at 7-5. The Falcons bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a one-run single off the bat of junior Connor Welker. The Falcons were unable to hold the lead, as North Carolina Wesleyan scored five times over the remaining six innings to grab the 10-7 win.
