Pfeiffer Drops Series Finale at Brevard

BREVARD, N.C. (March 23, 2025) --Pfeiffer received contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, but the Falcons fell to the Brevard Tornados 17-4 Sunday.

Junior J.D. Basinger (0-3) started and took the loss on the mound for Pfeiffer (6-14, 2-4 USA South).

At the plate, the Falcons were paced by senior C.J. Acosta, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Junior Hayden Furr compiled a noteworthy effort as well, going 1-for-1 with a home run and an RBI. Junior Joe Javier also chipped in for Pfeiffer, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons were trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Acosta came across to score the lone run of the inning for Pfeiffer and get them on the board.

The Tornados expanded their lead to 6-1 before the Falcons offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fifth. Pfeiffer scored twice on Acosta's two-run homer, which tightened the Tornados lead to 6-3.

Brevard built their lead to 9-3 before the Pfeiffer offense got going, reducing that lead to 9-4 in the eighth. The Falcons added a run on Furr's leadoff home run off freshman J. Wilde. The ballgame ended with that eighth inning rally falling short.

GAME NOTES
» Every Falcons starter reached base safely in the loss.
» Pfeiffer's highest scoring inning was the fifth, when it pushed two runs across.
» Pfeiffer left 11 runners stranded on base in the loss.
» Pfeiffer pitchers faced 44 Brevard hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and 12 fly balls while striking out two.
» The Falcons drew eight walks from Brevard pitching.
» Acosta led the Falcons at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
» Brevard was led offensively by senior C. Oehler, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and three RBI.
» Wilde led the Tornados pitching staff, throwing two innings of one-run ball.

Pfeiffer will step out of conference play for their next game, travelling to Greensboro to take on Guilford College on Wednesday, March 26 at 2:00 p.m.
