LYNCHBURG, Va. (March 5, 2025) --Joe Javier collected four hits, but the Pfeiffer Falcons fell to the ninth-ranked Lynchburg Hornets 19-9 on Tuesday.
Freshman Levi Barrett (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for Pfeiffer (1-10).
Of his four hits, Javier had two doubles and an RBI to lead the Falcons. Austin Wood put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with a double and five RBI. Wilson Lohrer also contributed for Pfeiffer, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a double and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Pfeiffer plated two runs off of Lynchburg pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of Javier.
The Falcons lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the second trailing 8-2. Pfeiffer scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Lohrer, which tightened the Hornets lead to 8-3.
Lynchburg expanded their lead to 11-3 before the Pfeiffer offense got back to work, reducing that lead to 11-6 in the fourth. Wood's bases-clearing double drove in all three runs for the Falcons.
The Hornets expanded their lead to 16-6 before the Pfeiffer offense got back in action, cutting into that lead in the sixth. bringing the score to 16-9 in favor of Lynchburg. The Falcons were unable to get any closer, as Lynchburg added three runs to their tally on the way to a 19-9 final.
