MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- The No. 20 Pfeiffer University softball team opened USA South Tournament play with a 1-0 win over William Peace on Thursday morning at Jack Ingram Field
Senior pitcher Emma Bullin tossed a one-hit shutout to lead the Falcons
Bullin (23-4) went the distance for Pfeiffer (31-7), giving up one hit, walking one and striking out three.
Offensively, sophomore Ky Perdue went 2-for-2 on the day while senior Alyssa Broaddus put together a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-3 with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons plated the game's only run, scoring the only run of the game in the first inning on anRBI single from Broaddus that scoring junior Landry Stewart from second base.
GAME NOTES
» Bullin tossed a one-hit shutout for the Falcons.
» Pfeiffer's highest scoring inning was the first, when it pushed one run across.
» Pfeiffer took a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the first and didn't surrender that lead for the remainder of the game.
» The Falcons out-hit the Pacers at a 6-1 clip.
» Pfeiffer pitchers faced 23 William Peace hitters in the game, allowing five ground balls and 13 fly balls while striking out three.
» Perdue led the Falcons at the plate, going 2-for-2.
» William Peace was led offensively by C. Lear, who went 1-for-3 with a double.
» K. Bordeaux led the Pacers pitching staff, throwing six innings of one-run ball.

The top-seeded Falcons will play fourth-seeded Meredith College on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in game three of the Misenheimer Bracket. The Falcons and Avenging Angels will follow the first elimination game of the tournament between Mary Baldwin at William Peace.
