GREENSBORO, N.C. (Jan. 17, 2026) — The Pfeiffer University men's basketball team erased a six--point halftime deficit to down rival Greensboro 88-78 in a USA South game in Hanes Gym on Saturday afternoon.
Sean Sucarichi scored 24 a career-high points in Pfeiffer's dominant second half performance.
Pfeiffer (8-8, 4-2 USA South) trailed 37–31 at halftime but erupted for 57 points after the break, flipping the game with relentless pressure, improved shooting and a parade to the free-throw line. The Falcons went 22 of 32 from the stripe in the second half alone and 28 of 43 for the game.
Sucarichi fueled the comeback with repeated drives to the rim, finishing 9 of 14 from the floor.
Clayton Robinson added 20 points, hitting three 3-pointers while going 5 of 6 at the line.
Justin Gaten scored 12 and
Doug Smith controlled the paint with 14 points, 13 rebounds and an eye-popping 10 blocks, posting the second triple-double of his career.
Greensboro (5-10, 1-3 USA South) leaned on DJ Jackson and Will Gray to build its early lead. Jackson finished with 20 points, while Gray added 18. Quamir Ingram scored 19, hitting three second-half threes to keep the Pride within striking distance before Pfeiffer's surge proved too much. Greensboro also suffered from foul trouble, with four players disqualified and the team committing 29 fouls.
Pfeiffer erased its halftime deficit with an 11–0 run sparked by Sucarichi and Smith's interior play, eventually taking the lead for good midway through the second half. The Falcons also dominated transition scoring, posting 19 fast-break points, and outscored Greensboro 36-48 in the paint.
Pfeiffer will return to Merner Gym to take on Methodist in a 7:30 p.m. game on Tuesday, Jan. 20 as part of a doubleheader with the Pfeiffer women's team.
