Baseball Opens Series With 12-2 Dismantling of Greensboro

MISENHEIMER, N.C. (March 20, 2026) — Pfeiffer pounded out 14 hits and rode a dominant start from James Eason to rout rival Greensboro College 12-2 in a USA South baseball matchup Friday evening at Joe Ferebee Field.

Pfeiffer (9-11, 4-0 USA South) scored in six different innings and blew the game open with three-run frames in the fourth, fifth and eighth. Greensboro (10-9, 2-2 USA South) was held scoreless until the eighth.

Senior shortstop Austin Wood led the Falcons' surge, finishing 5-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs, including a run-scoring single in the fifth and a bases-loaded knock in the sixth. Joe Javier added two hits and scored three times, while Jack Brandle drove in a run with a first-inning sacrifice fly and scored twice. Tony Mejias and Levi Barrett each contributed RBI singles.

Eason (2-0) delivered another sharp outing, tossing 7.1 innings, allowing eight hits but just two runs (one earned) while striking out three. He also picked off a runner in the first inning, halting Greensboro's only early scoring opportunity. Cameron Cooper worked the final two outs to seal the win.

Greensboro managed 10 hits but struggled to produce timely offense. Brayden Sands went 3-for-4, while Carson Herod drove in the Pride's lone RBI. Greensboro committed four errors, contributing to several of Pfeiffer's multi-run innings.

Pfeiffer closed the game emphatically with a three-run eighth, capitalizing on back-to-back errors and RBI hits from Barrett and others to push the lead to double digits.

The Falcons and Pride conclude their USA South series on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader at Joe Ferebee Field.
