MISENHEIMER, N.C. (March 28, 2026) — Pfeiffer used aggressive baserunning and a deep, balanced lineup to sweep Mary Baldwin in a USA South softball doubleheader Saturday at Jack Ingram Field.
The Falcons opened the day with a 13-1, five-inning victory in Game 1, then completed the sweep by 16-2 run rule in the second game.
In the opener, Pfeiffer struck quickly with four runs in the first inning and never let up.
Landry Stewart set the tone by going 4-for-4 with three runs, a double and four stolen bases, repeatedly putting pressure on the Mary Baldwin defense.
Heather Vaughn finished 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, while
Mollie Bulla added a two-run double.
Bulla also earned the win in the circle, allowing one run on one hit over four innings.
Peyton Lane worked a scoreless fifth with two strikeouts as Pfeiffer limited Mary Baldwin to just one hit.
Mary Baldwin's lone run came in the first inning when Kendal Switala scored on Dana Micone's RBI single.
The second game was all Pfeiffer from the start. The Falcons scored four runs in each of the first two innings and followed with an eight-run third to put the game away early.
E.A. Nance hit a three-run homer, Vaughn drove in another pair of runs, and
Devon Kelly delivered an RBI triple as Pfeiffer piled up 16 runs on 14 hits.
Abigail Bowman pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win, striking out six, while the Pfeiffer staff held Mary Baldwin to two runs one one hit.
Pfeiffer improved to 20-8 overall and 5-1 in USA South play, while Mary Baldwin drops to 5-18-1, 1-5 in league play.
