MISENHEIMER, N.C. (March 5, 2026) — Pfeiffer scored four times in the fourth inning and rode 5.2 shutout innings from reliever
Sam Safrit to defeat RPI 4-2 on a warm Thursday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field.
RPI (1-4) struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening inning when Cam Hawley walked, advanced on a passed ball and scored on Matt Chotiner's RBI single. Robbie Reddington added an RBI single in the fourth to push the Engineers' lead to 2-0.
Pfeiffer (4-7) flipped the game in the bottom of the fourth, capitalizing on two errors by RPI third baseman Michael Lebenson.
Ben Mecimore delivered an RBI single,
Joe Javier followed with a two-run double and
Jack Brandle capped the rally with an RBI single as the Falcons surged ahead 4–2. All four runs were unearned.
Safrit (1-0) entered with one out in the fourth and shut down the Engineers, allowing two hits and striking out four without permitting a run. He followed starter
Andrew Bruss, who worked 3.1 innings and allowed two runs (one earned).
Javier finished 2 for 5 with two RBIs, while Brandle added two hits and an RBI. Willard,
Austin Wood and
Christian Bellantoni also contributed key hits for the Falcons, who totaled nine hits and stranded 12 runners.
Chotiner went 3 for 4 and Reddington added two RBIs for RPI, which managed five hits but left 10 men on base. Reliever Andrew Crux took the loss after allowing four unearned runs in 3.1 innings.
The Falcons and Engineers will play a doubleheader to complete their three-game series on Friday, March 6. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
