COLUMBUS, Ga. — Pfeiffer dropped a late-inning heartbreaker to 24th-ranked Belhaven before bouncing back to defeat LaGrange to earn a split on Friday at the NFCA Fastpitch Classic.

Pfeiffer rallied for three runs in the seventh to force extras, but Belhaven (6–4) plated the international tiebreak run in the eighth to secure a 6-5 win.
Down 4-2 entering the seventh, the Falcons tied it when
Kylah Shifflett singled,
Charly Cooper followed with an RBI single aided by a right-field error,
Ky Perdue delivered another hit, and
E.A. Nance punched a game-tying RBI single up the middle. Pfeiffer then loaded the bases before a strikeout ended the threat.
In the eighth, Belhaven's Maddie Keller scored on a bases-loaded walk to Maddie Bruner. Pfeiffer went down in order in its half.
Nance led Pfeiffer with two hits and two RBIs, while Perdue added two hits. The Falcons used four pitchers, with
Mollie Bulla taking the loss. Belhaven received solo home runs from Maryanna Guy and Bruner, and Guy drove in three.
Pfeiffer 5, LaGrange 3
Pfeiffer rebounded in its second game of the day, using a three-run fifth inning to pull away from LaGrange (1–11) for a 5-3 victory.
Heather Vaughn doubled to start the rally before scoring on
Brooke Piper's RBI single.
Emily Dickerson then punched a two-run single to extend the lead.
Landry Stewart and Nance each had two hits, and
Shifflett added two runs scored.
Bulla earned the win in relief, tossing 5? innings while allowing two unearned runs with three strikeouts. LaGrange collected nine hits but stranded eight runners, including two in a sixth-inning push that cut the deficit to 4-3 before Pfeiffer added insurance.
Pfeiffer will return to play on Day Two of the NFCA Classic on Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. game with Gettysburg College followed by a 5:30 p.m. matchup with No. 14 Huntingdon.
