Bellantoni Lifts Pfeiffer to 7-6 Win in 10 Innings

MISENHEIMER, N.C. (April 17, 2026)Christian Bellantoni drove in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the 10th inning, lifting Pfeiffer to a 7-6 win over visiting Methodist University on Friday night at Joe Ferebee Field.

Pfeiffer (19-14, 12-3 USA South) built a 5-2 lead after seven innings before Methodist rallied with three runs in the ninth to force extra innings. In the bottom of the 10th, Levi Barrett singled and Josh Jones reached before Bellantoni lined a walk-off single to shallow left to bring home the deciding run.

Josh Jones finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs and scored twice for the Falcons, while Austin Wood scored twice and drove in a run. Levi Barrett added an RBI double, and Jack Brandle knocked in two runs. Pfeiffer collected 13 hits and did not homer.

Methodist (15-19, 10-6 USA South) was led by Brandon Mauger, who went 3 for 4 with a run, a walk and two stolen bases. Austin Rinzel and Israel Ortiz each drove in a run during the ninth-inning comeback, with Rinzel doubling home a run and Ortiz adding an RBI single.

James Eason allowed two runs over five innings in a no-decision for Pfeiffer. Josh Little earned the win in relief, working the final innings with one earned run allowed. Presley Patterson took the loss for Methodist after allowing the deciding run in the 10th.

The two teams will square off on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in game two of their USA South series at Joe Ferebee Field.
