MISENHEIMER, N.C. (April 3, 2026) —
Badin Gusa drove in two runs with a home run and
Ben Mecimore finished with two hits and an RBI as Pfeiffer opened its USA South series with a 10-4 victory over Brevard on Friday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field.
The Falcons (13-13, 7-2 USA South) produced 14 hits and scored in five different innings to pull away from the Tornados. Brevard (14-13, 3-7 USA South) struck for two runs in the third and added single runs in the fourth and eighth, but could not keep pace with Pfeiffer's steady offense.
Pfeiffer took the lead for good in the second inning when Gusa connected for a two-run homer, giving the Falcons an early edge. After Brevard cut the margin to one with a pair of runs in the third, Pfeiffer answered with a three-run fourth that included a solo home run by
Josh Jones, an RBI triple from Mecimore and a sacrifice fly by
Joe Javier.
Jack Brandle added an RBI single in the sixth before Pfeiffer put the game away with a four-run surge across the seventh and eighth innings.
Christian Bellantoni highlighted that stretch with a two-run triple, while
Levi Barrett's sacrifice fly capped the scoring in the eighth.
Mecimore went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Bellantoni finished 2-for-5 with a double, triple and two RBIs. Brandle and
Austin Wood also collected three hits apiece for the Falcons.
James Eason earned the win for Pfeiffer, allowing three runs on nine hits over five innings with five strikeouts.
Cameron Cooper pitched four strong innings of relief, striking out six and surrendering just one unearned run to lock down the decision.
Davis Anders and Kacey Shanks each had three hits for Brevard, while Tyson Hinkle and Anders drove in runs for the Tornados. Starting pitcher Kaden Tuten took the loss after allowing five runs in 3 1/3 innings.
