Bowman Opens USA South Tournament Play With No-Hitter Against Salem

MISENHEIMER, N.C. (April 30, 2026) — Abigail Bowman tossed a five-inning no-hitter and top-seeded Pfeiffer broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning to defeat eighth-seeded Salem 9-0 in the USA South Tournament on Thursday morning at Jack Ingram Field.

Bowman (15-4) struck out seven and did not issue a walk as the Falcons ended the game early by run rule. Salem managed only one baserunner, reaching on an error in the second inning.

Pfeiffer (33-8) scored in each of the first, third and fourth innings, finishing with 11 hits. Landry Stewart set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 2 for 3 with two runs scored and three stolen bases.

Heather Vaughn drove in three runs, including two on an infield single during Pfeiffer's decisive fourth inning. Mollie Bulla added a solo homer in the third and later knocked in another run with a single. Natalie Auman had an RBI double, and Brooke Piper doubled home a run as part of the big inning.

The Falcons sent 11 batters to the plate in the fourth, scoring six times on seven hits.

Salem (9-30) was limited to 16 total batters and struck out seven times against Bowman.

Top-seeded Pfeiffer will advance in USA South Tournament play, taking on fourth-seeded Greensboro College at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1.
