MISENHEIMER, N.C. (April 30, 2026) —
Abigail Bowman tossed a five-inning no-hitter and top-seeded Pfeiffer broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning to defeat eighth-seeded Salem 9-0 in the USA South Tournament on Thursday morning at Jack Ingram Field.
Bowman (15-4) struck out seven and did not issue a walk as the Falcons ended the game early by run rule. Salem managed only one baserunner, reaching on an error in the second inning.
Pfeiffer (33-8) scored in each of the first, third and fourth innings, finishing with 11 hits.
Landry Stewart set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 2 for 3 with two runs scored and three stolen bases.
Heather Vaughn drove in three runs, including two on an infield single during Pfeiffer's decisive fourth inning.
Mollie Bulla added a solo homer in the third and later knocked in another run with a single.
Natalie Auman had an RBI double, and
Brooke Piper doubled home a run as part of the big inning.
The Falcons sent 11 batters to the plate in the fourth, scoring six times on seven hits.
Salem (9-30) was limited to 16 total batters and struck out seven times against Bowman.
Top-seeded Pfeiffer will advance in USA South Tournament play, taking on fourth-seeded Greensboro College at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1.
Salem drops into an 11:00 p.m. elimination game with Southern Virginia, also on Friday, May 1.
