MISENHEIMER, N.C. (May 1, 2026) - Josh Jones blasted a three-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth Friday, lifting Pfeiffer past Southern Virginia 8-5 in game four of =of the USA South Baseball Tournament.
Pfeiffer entered the ninth trailing 5–4 after the Knights pushed across a go-ahead run in the top half on Garrett Stauffer's RBI single. But
Austin Wood jump-started the Falcons' rally with a leadoff double, and
Jack Brandle followed with a single to put runners at the corners.
Levi Barrett then dropped a squeeze bunt that scored Wood to tie the game.
After
Tony Mejias was hit by a pitch, Jones turned on a 2–1 offering and sent it over the left-field wall for his eighth home run of the season, setting off a celebration at Joe Ferebee Field.
Jones finished 1-for-5 with three RBI, while Wood went 3-for-5 and scored twice. Brandle added two hits, and Mejias doubled home a run in the sixth.
Southern Virginia pounded out 15 hits but stranded nine runners. Conner Robley led the Knights with three hits and two RBI, and Stauffer and Bobby Rossi each added two hits.
Skylar Faircloth (1–1) earned the win in relief, allowing one run over 1? innings. Pfeiffer reliever
Josh Little steadied the Falcons after a rough start, giving up just one run across six innings.
The Falcons and Knights will play one more game on Saturday, May 2, with the winner advancing to the USA South Championship Series. The start time will be announced early morning on May 2 due to the possibility of inclement weather.
