MISENHEIMER, N.C. (May 1, 2026) — Pfeiffer opened the second day of the USA South Tournament with a stunning setback Friday, falling 8-1 to Greensboro before bouncing back hours later with a 9-3 elimination-game win over Southern Virginia.
Greensboro broke open the opener with a three-run third inning, highlighted by Kenly Brown's three-run homer to right. The Pride added four more in the fourth, capitalizing on two Pfeiffer errors and an RBI double from Alexis Lynch. Brown finished 3-for-3 with four RBI, and Lynch went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Pfeiffer managed just four hits against Greensboro starter Ella Ebert, who went the distance with five walks and three strikeouts. The Falcons' lone run came in the fifth on an RBI single by
Mollie Bulla.
Facing elimination, Pfeiffer responded with a 17-hit outburst against Southern Virginia.
Landry Stewart sparked the offense, going 3-for-4 with three runs and five stolen bases.
Heather Vaughn added two hits, two runs and an RBI, while
Kirstyn Herman delivered a two-run double during a four-run fourth inning that put the game out of reach.
Bulla earned the win in the circle, allowing five hits and three runs (two earned) over three innings before
Abigail Bowman closed with four scoreless frames and three strikeouts.
Pfeiffer and Greensboro will play once more on Saturday, May 2, with the Falcons needing two wins to advance to the USA South Championship Series.
