MISENHEIMER, N.C. (May 9, 2026) — Pfeiffer broke open a scoreless game with a pair of three-run innings and rode a dominant pitching performance to a 6-0 victory over William Peace on Saturday, winning the USA South Tournament Championship for the first time in program history
The Falcons (25-20), the tournament's No. 2 seed, scored all of their runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take the series, while limiting the Pacers to seven hits in a combined shutout. The shutout is the first in a USA South series deciding game since LaGrange downed Piedmont 6-0 in 2017. All told, it marks only the third time since the USA South Baseball Tournament, which started in 1994, has ended in a shutout.
Pfeiffer starter
James Eason (6-3) set the tone, working seven scoreless innings. The right-hander allowed four hits and four walks while inducing a pair of double plays to escape trouble.
Cameron Cooper finished the final two innings, striking out three to complete the shutout.
Locked in a scoreless duel through four innings, Pfeiffer capitalized on defensive miscues to take control in the fifth. The Falcons pushed across three unearned runs, highlighted by RBI singles from
Austin Wood and
Jack Brandle.
Pfeiffer added three more runs in the sixth, again taking advantage of William Peace errors along with timely hitting.
Joe Javier and Connor Coy both touched home during the rally, extending the lead to 6-0.
Wood led Pfeiffer at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI, while Brandle drove in two runs. Javier added two hits, scored twice and drove in another run.
William Peace (20-25), the No. 5 seed, put runners on throughout the game but stranded 10, including a bases-loaded opportunity earlier and a ninth-inning threat that came up empty.
Kahner Moss and Kyle Peters each had two hits for the Pacers.
Landon Coleman (3-4) took the loss for William Peace, allowing six runs — only two earned — over 5 2/3 innings as defensive errors proved costly.
Despite outhitting the Falcons early, the Pacers did not score in any of the nine innings, as Pfeiffer turned two double plays and made the most of its offensive chances in the middle frames.
