MISENHEIMER, N.C. (May 8, 2026)) — Pfeiffer used a dominant opening blowout and a timely, small-ball attack in the second game to sweep N.C. Wesleyan on Friday and capture its fourth consecutive USA South Softball Tournament Championship.
Top-seeded Pfeiffer (38-9) defeated the Battling Bishops 14-0 in five innings in Game one before holding off a late push for a 6-4 victory in Game two at Jack Ingram Field.
Game 1: Pfeiffer 14, N.C. Wesleyan 0 (5 innings)
Pfeiffer seized control early and never looked back, scoring three runs in the first inning and erupting for 10 more in the second to trigger the run rule.
E.A. Nance powered the offense, going 2 for 3 with a home run, a double and four RBIs, while also scoring twice.
Landry Stewart added two hits and two RBIs, and
Charly Cooper and
Ky Perdue each scored twice as part of a 12-hit attack.
Pfeiffer's pitching staff combined on a one-hit shutout.
Abigail Bowman earned the win with two scoreless innings, and the Falcons issued five walks but allowed just one extra-base hit — a double by Brooke Markiewicz — for the game's only hit by N.C. Wesleyan.
The Falcons finished with 14 runs on 12 hits and committed no errors, while the Bishops were held scoreless with one hit.
Game 2: Pfeiffer 6, N.C. Wesleyan 4
The second game was far tighter, but Pfeiffer built an early lead and leaned on pitching and aggressive baserunning to complete the sweep.
Pfeiffer scored in each of the first three innings and added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh to hold off a power-heavy effort by N.C. Wesleyan.
Nance again led the Falcons at the plate, finishing 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Stewart went 2 for 5 with a run, an RBI and three stolen bases, helping Pfeiffer swipe seven bases overall.
Abigail Bowman tossed a complete game, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out two to secure the championship-clinching win
N.C. Wesleyan (27-18-1) stayed within striking distance behind three solo home runs — from Markiewicz, Kyiah Simmons and Ramzie Bryant — but could not overcome Pfeiffer's depth and timely hitting.
By virtue of the USA South Tournament Title, Pfeiffer earns the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Softbal Tournament and will learn their opponents during the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, May 11 at 11:00 a.m.
