EARLYSVILLE, Va. (Sept. 19, 2026) — Pfeiffer University turned in a strong showing against a deep regional field Saturday, placing second in the men's team standings at the NCAA D3 South Regional Preview held at Panorama Farm. The Falcons finished with 92 points, trailing only nationally prominent Lynchburg, which won the meet with 28 points.
Pfeiffer placed five runners among the top 30 finishers in the 8-kilometer race to secure the runner-up finish ahead of regional contenders Roanoke and Berry. The Falcons posted a team average time of 26:58 and finished comfortably in second place among the 16 scoring teams.
Leading the way for Pfeiffer was
Bricen Burleson, who crossed the finish line fourth overall in 26:00.5. Burleson's performance earned the Falcons their top placing of the day and helped establish Pfeiffer near the front of the team standings from the outset.
Senior
Cannon Powell added a 12th-place finish in 26:35.8, while freshman
Aiden Edwards placed 22nd in 27:10.0.
Isaiah Watts finished 24th in 27:23.8, and
Chase Ciccone rounded out the scoring five with a 30th-place effort in 27:36.2.
Pfeiffer also received valuable depth performances from
Oliver Candela-Godinez, who finished 32nd in 27:40.6, and
Chase Tompkins, who placed 36th in 27:53.5.
The Falcons finished ahead of several regionally ranked programs and placed 16 points clear of third-place Roanoke. Their top five runners were separated by just 1:35.7, underscoring the team's depth and pack-running approach.
Lynchburg claimed the team title behind four top-12 finishers, while Ty Blair of Lynchburg won the individual championship in 25:43.0.
