Pfeiffer Baseball Erupts for 29 Runs in Doubleheader Sweep of Berea
Misenheimer, N.C. (March 30, 2019) –The Pfeiffer University baseball team put up 29 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Berea College on Saturday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field, taking the first game 13-0 and game two by a 16-0 score. Both games ended after seven innings.
Berea – 7-18, 3-11 USA South
Pfeiffer – 18-4, 11-3 USA South
Game one saw the Falcons batter Berea pitching for 13 hits, with Bryce Marsh, Kirby Lambert and Blake Winebarger all hitting doubles. Marsh finished with four RBI in the game while Chaston Gordon drove in two. Mason Striplin and Winebarger each drove in a pair in the game.
Game two was no different, as Pfeiffer had 12 hits against Berea pitching, with four of those going for extra bases. Zach Ferrell and Ira Dorin contributed doubles while Bryce Marsh had two solo home runs, with the first coming in the third inning and the latter coming in the sixth inning.
Pfeiffer pitching was especially efficient, with Nick Richmond getting the win in game one, allowing just one hit in six innings of work while striking out seven batters.
Nathan Ray earned the win in game two, allowing just two hits while striking out three.
The Falcons and Mountaineers will complete their three-game set on Sunday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
