Six Falcons Named to NCCSIA All-State Baseball Teams

Six Pfeiffer University baseball players have earned All-State honors from the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) the organization has announced.

Junior second baseman Ira Dorin ((Lithia Springs, Ga.) earned First-Team All-State honors after hitting .369 in USA South play, good for ninth overall in the league.  He had 48 hits on the year, including 10 doubles a pair of triples and had three home runs on the season.  He drove in 42 RBI and scored 34 times for the Falcons.  Defensively, he secured a .929 fielding percentage on the season and helped the Falcons turn 19 double-plays.

Senior Kirby Lambert (Kernersville, N.C.) also earned First-Team honors after hitting .408 on the season, leading the USA South.  He had 45 RBI to his credit while scoring 49 times.  He also had 13 doubles, a pair of triples and a league-best seven home runs.  He managed a .947 fielding percentage while manning the Falcon outfield.  Additionally, he was named a USA South First Team selection and earned ECAC All-Tournament Team honors after the Falcons captured the 2019 ECAC Championship.

Freshman Bryce Marsh (Asheboro N.C.) adds two more awards to his impressive tally after his debut season with the Black and Gold.  Marsh earned Second-Team All-State honors at both designated hitter and as a relief pitcher for his performances in 2019. Marsh, the USA South Rookie of the Year and a league first-team selection, finished the season with a .385 batting average, driving in 38 RBI while also scoring 38 runs.  He combined for 47 hits on the season, 12 of which were doubles while hitting six home runs.

As a reliever, Marsh had six saves, good for second in the USA South.  In his 17 innings of work, Marsh carried a 1.06 ERA while striking out 26 batters. All told, he limited the opponents to a .169 batting average.

Junior shortstop Bryan Kowalski (Kernersville, N.C.) earned Second-Team honors after hitting .356 for the Falcons in 2019. He had 10 doubles, a triple and lifted three home runs over the course of the season, driving in 33 runs.  Defensively, he managed a .924 fielding percentage and helped turn 22 double plays.

Senior Mason Striplin (Kernersville, N.C.) also garnered Second-Team honors after hitting .361 in 2019, driving in 34 runs while scoring 43.  He also swiped 11 bases, had eight doubles, three triples and a pair of home runs.  He also carried a .469 on-base percentage and a .991 fielding percentage.  In addition to his All-State honors, Striplin was tabbed to the ECAC All-Tournament team and was named a USA South Third-Team selection.

Junior pitcher Nick Richmond (Reidsville, N.C.) earned NCCSIA Second-Team honors after finishing the year with a 7-0 record.  He finished with a 1.82 ERA while striking out 83 batters on the season.  Additionally, he was named to the ECAC All-Tournament team and was also tabbed as the ECAC Tournament MVP.

Founded in 2002, the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.

The NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, softball and baseball.
